Course Objective

To ensure proficiency, each cabin crew member must undergo regular recurrent training in order to maintain their knowledge, expertise and skills in both normal and emergency situations.

During practical exercises, participants demonstrate their skills handling emergency equipment.

Topics

Every 12 months

  • Emergency procedures including pilot incapacitation
  • Evacuation procedures including crowd control techniques
  • Touch-drills for each course participant for opening normal and emergency exits for passenger evacuation
  • The location and handling of emergency equipment, including oxygen systems, and the wearing of lifejackets, portable oxygen and protective breathing equipment (PBE)
  • Medical aspects and first aid, first-aid kits, emergency medical kits and their contents, emergency medical equipment
  • Stowage of articles in the cabin
  • Security procedures
  • Incident and accident review
  • Awareness of the effects of ice formation and the need to inform the flight crew of any observed ice formation
  • Crew resource management training

Every three years

  • Operation and opening of each type or variant of normal and emergency exits in the normal and emergency modes, including failure of power-assisted systems (where applicable). This includes the action and forces required to operate and deploy evacuation slides.
  • The operation of all other exits including flight deck windows
  • Realistic and practical fire-fighting, including donning and using protective breathing equipment in an enclosed and smoke-filled environment
  • Use of pyrotechnics
  • Use of life-rafts or slide-rafts
  • Training in the event of the incapacitation of members of the flight crew including:
    • Functions and use of the seat and harness mechanisms
    • Use of flight crew’s oxygen system

Requirements

Participants must first have completed Initial Safety Training and a Conversion course.

Additional information

The course is entirely tailored to customer needs. It is conducted by SAT on behalf of the operator. The operator must have the course approved by the relevant authority.
